Job Title: Lead Project Engineer

Job Duties:

Manage small to moderate projects under direction of an Associate Principal or Principal or Design elements, systems and components for large projects during Design Development and Construction Document Phases

  • Evaluate alternate design schemes for code compliance, serviceability, and constructability
  • Perform analysis and design of structural elements and components
  • Develop and analyze joint and connection design
  • Assist and direct project engineering staff with design and analysis
  • Collaborate with architects and other consultants on the overall project
  • Work with BIM staff to develop construction documents
  • Review specifications for consistency with design and completeness
  • Assist the contractor during construction with interpretation of the documents and resolution of field issues
  • Review shop drawings for conformance with Contract Documents and design errors
  • Answer RFI’s and field questions
  • Provide structural observation
  • Attend design and construction meetings

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates will have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Civil or Structural Engineering, have a Professional Engineer’s License (PE) or qualified to be licensed via reciprocity. Candidates must have a minimum 5 years building design experience.

Preference will be given to those with a Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.

Candidates will have the ability to interpret codes.

Candidates understand and interpret input and output of design and analysis programs.

Candidates will have the ability to detail structural systems.

Candidates will be able to check plans and details for accuracy and completeness.

Candidates will have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with design team members, architects, other consultants, building department staff, and contractors verbally and in writing.

Relevant experience includes:

  • Overall project design for moderate or large structures.
  • Modeling mid-rise and high-rise buildings using ETABS, STRUDL, STAAD, and/or SAP
  • Linear dynamic analysis
  • Design of concrete shear walls
  • Design of mild reinforced concrete slabs and beams
  • Design of post-tensioned concrete slabs and beams
  • Design of concrete columns
  • Design of steel structures
  • Design of mat foundations
  • Design of deep foundations

Design of high seismic design category structures is preferred

Experience with analysis using time histories is preferred

The candidates must be proficient with the following Codes, Standards, and Software:

  • IBC 2012

  • ACI 318-11
  • AISC Steel Manual 14th edition
  • ETABS, SAP, STRUDL, or STAAD
  • SAFE or RAM Concept
  • RAMSteel
  • RISA
  • ADAPT or PT Data or PT Plus
  • SP Column
  • SP Beam
  • Word
  • Excel

The candidates should be familiar with the following software:

  • PERFORM
  • ADAPT Floor Pro
  • MathCAD
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit

ANNUAL COMPENSATION RANGE

$78,000-$90,000 – depending on qualifications, plus a generous benefits package.
